BEING THANKFUL
“Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us
diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place.” II Corinthians 2:14
“But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us
spreads and makes evident everywhere the sweet fragrance of the knowledge
of Him.” II Corinthians 2:14 AMP
Every year during the month of November we, in the US, observe and celebrate Thanksgiving Day. A time set aside to reflect on the goodness of Almighty God toward us, for the establishment of this Nation, and His rich and bountiful Blessings shown toward us.
Unfortunately for so many, it has simply been reduced to a day of watching parades, eating turkey and the traditional fixins’ – to the point of being overstuffed, watching football games, hanging out with friends, and having a couple of days off. Not to mention getting ready for “Black Friday” – the best shopping day of the year!
The Word of God reminds us that God is ALWAYS good toward us, even on a daily basis. This merits thanksgiving from us to Him daily. In II Corinthians 2:14 we’re given a peek into a Kingdom of God Law that guarantees success in life. It is having a thankful heart toward Almighty God. It is our heart being full of gratitude and thankfulness toward God for Who He is, for what He has already done for us, and for His Grace and Mercy shown to us through Christ Jesus.
A thankful heart toward God causes us to remain in a place of peace and tranquility, even in the face of highly pressured situations. A thankful heart toward Almighty God leads us like a masterful “Drum Major” in a college band into triumphal victory after victory in Christ Jesus!
So, as you enjoy family and friends on Thanksgiving Day – or if you find yourself alone – don’t allow your focus to only be on the food and festivities, but reflect on the goodness of God toward you, and be thankful for the big things and the small things. I promise you it will bring a smile to your face, giving you an optimistic outlook on your present moments, and your days ahead.
You were created to bring Almighty God pleasure. Let Him make your life “a praise to the Glory of His Grace!”
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
